Papua New Guinea
..anyone been? I had a job offer there when I was a young un and alto I didnt go ive always harboured an idea to visit.

Watched the Ross Kemp programme on it recently ( the one where he gets threatened with a gun in his face ) and then saw this in the news

ttps://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/jul/15/papua-new-guinea-massacre-of-30-women-and-children-is-worst-payback-killing-in-countrys-history

If there really is a more soulless, hideous, scary godforsaken place in the world.i'd be very surprised,

Pretty sure it was in PNG where some tribes had the savvy to work out the mindset and naivety of early missionaries. Natives would initially deliberately welcome and gain their trust and confidence to such an extent the missionaries would start sending out their extended families.

Of course the big cooking pot would come out once there were enough god botherers and especially their succulent less tough offspring for a decent feed.

I'm not sure soulless is how I would describe the place, but it's a place where a foreigner shouldn't wander alone. The ex-pats tend to live in gated communes.

Also, the number one sport is rugby league, so it can't be all bad.

I bet they regret getting independence from Australia in 1974.

I think its one of the surrounding islands of PNG which has been described as the rape capital of the world.

Something like a greater percentage of the male population admit to taking part in gangrape than the percentage who say they haven't committed rape.

Think it's New Caledonia, cba googling though.

Indeed. Especially when driving around the city at 6am, pilled up. Surpassed only by Carl Crag's - At Les

As Cheezy said Rugby LEAGUE is there national sport and infact Great Britain are playing there in Nov. Remember the last time they played there was mental! Sounds an horrendous place if you ask me and wouldnt be on my to do list...although im sure Gavros will pop on soon to say how he has been there and done it etc!

Our Celtic ancestors included cannibals.

It used to be thought that it was just Julius Caesar's libel, but several archaeological finds have confirmed his reports.

Not enough data to work out how widespread cannibalism was, but it definitely existed.

According to my Oz relatives, rural parts of PNG are so dangerous that if you are driving in these areas you don't have to stop if you run someone over! You just have to report it at some point in the future.

Mind you they like Rugby League so not all bad..
